The Benedictine Abbey of Chantelle

In the heart of the Bourbonnais, a Benedictine community to discover
The story of this community began 160 years ago…: on the evening of 11 October 1853, a stagecoach pulled up in the inner courtyard of the Chantelle priory.
A few Benedictine nuns stepped down. Monastic life in Chantelle could be reborn… What they found in their new home was above all a very beautiful Romanesque church and an old priory, survivors of the upheavals of history, themselves in a state of disrepair…
With tenacity and perseverance, little by little the sisters took up the challenge of bringing them back to life and filling them once again with songs of praise.
