"CELLULE 42" ESCAPE GAME

ide it. It displays a wide range of collections, notably the Carolingian Gospel book of Gannat. Alongside temporary exhibitions, many activities are offered to visitors (activity booklets, educational workshops, school visits, guided tours for groups, etc.).

The Cellule 42 escape game is for 2 to 4 players aged 13 and over, and invites participants to relive the escape of Resistance fighter Claude Hettier de Boislambert during the Second World War. To do so, they will have to solve puzzles

to understand how this spectacular escape from Gannat prison came about on 2 December 1942.

Claude Hettier de Boislambert, mobilised as a cavalry lieutenant in September 1939, immediately took part in the Second World War, first at the front, then in the Resistance from 16 June 1940, when he went to England to serve General de Gaulle. On a mission in Africa, he was captured and interrogated for many weeks without saying a word. He was then transferred to mainland France and, after nine months in pre-trial detention, was sentenced to death on 13 June 1941 by the Supreme Court Martial of Gannat, a sentence immediately commuted to hard labour for life. He was first imprisoned in Saint-Étienne and then again in Gannat, from where he managed to escape with several of his comrades on 2 December 1942 to join General de Gaulle.
