Paléopolis, discovering extinct animals
Published 21 February 2021
Located in Gannat, this one-of-a-kind park invites young and old to dive into the fascinating world of dinosaurs and tells the story of life on Earth.
Paléopolis is a true place of exploration, where everyone, from the youngest age, can step into the shoes of a palaeontologist and come face to face with the most astonishing species, and sometimes even the most terrifying!
All the senses are awakened to travel back in time. Excavations, casts, cave art and virtual reality activities let you touch, scrape, observe… and shiver!
Whether you come once or several times, as a family, in a group or on a school trip, the wonder is always the same in the face of the variety of discoveries, activities and programmes of events.
Paléopolis is located in Gannat, 30 minutes from Clermont-Ferrand and 20 minutes from Vichy, on a 5-hectare natural site overlooking the surrounding countryside. It is close to where, in 1993, a 23-million-year-old rhinoceros, the "Diaceratherium lemanense", was found.
